Oral Surgery of Alamo Ranch has over 25 years of experience in providing implant services to San Antonio and the Hill Country.
A natural tooth consists of a root and a crown. When you lose a tooth, your implant-supported replacement “tooth” has similar parts. First, we replace the root with a small dental implant made of titanium, the same time-tested material used for artificial joints.
Time is allowed for bone to heal and grow around the dental implant in a process called osseointegration. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. A support post (or abutment) is then placed on the implant, and a new replacement tooth (or crown) is placed on top of the abutment.
In some cases a temporary replacement tooth can be attached to the implant immediately after it is placed. In other cases, the crown may be placed after a couple of months.
Dental implants have an overall success rate of about 95% and almost 50 years of clinical research supporting their use.
Implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, or a full arch of teeth.
Oral Surgery of Alamo Ranch only uses implants from established, highly respected manufacturers such as Straumann® and NeoDent®. These companies have invested significant research into creating and testing their products and offer lifetime warranties on their dental implants.
